Sync or sink!
By Pastor Doug
In pastor Jana’s message last Sunday, she talked about worldviews and accurately stated that we all have one. Then she asked the question “is yours Biblical?” World views are formed by passions, culture, education, media, movies, books and the opinions of friends and leaders. Our world view affects the way we live and how we respond in day to day living. Our world view is the programing that wants to control our lives. With that in mind take a minute and meditate on the meaning of Romans 12:2. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
So, what do you think? Ahab said this when he met up with Elijah the prophet one day. “…when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, “Is that you, O troubler of Israel?” (1 Kings 18:17) This statement gives the reason why many Christians won’t stand up for their faith. It is the reason why it’s easy to hide in our buildings instead of taking stands on the public square. We don’t want to be seen as troublemakers.
It’s interesting how the murdering king Ahab, (rightly dubbed the most wicked king of all) and his wife queen Jezebel saw things. Ahab worshipped Baal and built a temple for that purpose, turning God’s people to Baal. He murdered the prophets of God and fraudulently took land from the innocent. I mean the guy winked at sin and loved wickedness. Like I said it’s interesting how he said that Elijah was the one troubling Israel. Thankfully, Elijah wasn’t afraid to face a little opposition.
You can read the story in 1 Kings18 of how Elijah called on God’s people to make a decision about who they were going to follow. “And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him, but if Baal, follow him. But the people answered him not a word.” (1 Kings 18:21) Notice God’s people answered not a word. Why didn’t they answer? Because they were out of sync with God. They were intimidated by the fear tactics of an evil administration. They probably didn’t realize it but their inaction, proved they had an ungodly worldview. Thankfully, Elijah challenged the 450 false prophets in a very dramatic way and God’s power was revealed through fire. You can read the whole story in 1 Kings chapter 18. The result was God’s people turned back to Him. Everyone who refused to sync with God were sunk.
I hope you will realize the value of syncing your life with the Lord Jesus and His Word. I hope you will realize the value of being fearless and bold in your faith. I hope you will realize that when the Bible tells us to stand it means stand. Elijah had to stand alone, but we don’t. We can stand together and we can all act together. As we act it gives God a place to work from. Had not Elijah challenged the false prophets, they would have went unchallenged and God’s people would have walked further and further from Him. God’s hands are tied if ours are too.
The question is who are you going to sync with? Who are you going to harmonize with? Do you want boys to be able to identify as girls and walk freely into your daughter’s shower room at school? Do you want boys to be able to identify as girls and compete in girl’s athletics and take their scholarships? This is coming soon if you don’t oppose it. We must sync with godly ways or be sunk by the ungodly. If you want to act here is a link to help you do that.
