Be a Blessing!
by Pastor Doug Cox
Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted! Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
I am so glad to know that Jesus cares about us and wants to bless us with abundant life. He wants us to live in freedom. He wants us to be full of peace, love and joy. He wants us to be free from condemnation. Plus, we get to go to heaven when this life is all over. Incredibly, He made all this and more possible for us through simple faith in His death, burial and resurrection. What a sad thing though if we were to keep all this to ourselves.
The truth is God still loves people as much as He ever did. He still rejoices over every sinner that comes to repentance. Can you remember the day you were saved? Do you remember the weight of your sin being lifted, the peace that flooded your life? Do you remember the people who shared the truth of the gospel with you? That should remind us all that God uses people. In fact, He needs people like you and I to help spread the Good News of God’s grace and love in the world around us. Let’s be committed to Jesus’ command to go and make disciples of all nations. Let’s all do our part and remember we are blessed to be a blessing.
