Dear Crossroads Friends and Family,
In light of the concerns about the spread of the coronavirus we are CANCELLING the POTLUCK we had planned for this coming Sunday, March 15th. We feel like it is a prudent step to take. We will still have our morning worship service as usual.
The CDC says the disease is thought to spread mainly from person to person, between people who are in close contact with each another and through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. They say it may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads. The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure… fever, cough and shortness of breath.
- If you have any of the above symptoms we recommend that you stay home and avoid close contact with others and please call your doctor. You can also call us for prayer and we will happy to pray for you.
- Avoid letting fear dominate you. 2 Timothy 1:7 clearly says that “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Fear and faith are opposing forces, so we need to keep our mind focused on the Word of God and what God says. Romans 10:17 says “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Pray for wisdom and don’t let the 24 hour news coverage barrage you with worry.
- Keep things in perspective. As I write there are 4,936 deaths world wide, and 39 deaths reported in the USA from coronavirus. In comparison it is reported that globally there are nearly 1.25 million people who die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. Statistically driving exposes us to far greater risk than the virus. Let’s use wisdom while driving and in the face of disease.
