The Marketing of Lies
By Doug Cox
Jesus said “…if you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32) People often wonder what they can do to make their life better. Jesus gives the answer. You must know, hold and act on the truth.
Truth is important because lies strip people of their freedom when believed. Proverbs 4:23-24 gives us very sound advice. “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth and put perverse lips far from you.” In other words, don’t tell lies or speak perversely and don’t listen to people who do. It doesn’t matter if it is the Pope, a Prophet, a partisan or a prominent friend or culture icon, if what they say isn’t true, it must be thrown in the trash.
Promoting lies is the number one way to strip away freedoms because they cause confusion, create division and undermine what is good. Some lies when acted on can cause irreparable and eternal damage. The Apostle Paul warned the Galatian church to reject a false gospel built on lies. (See Galatians 1:8)
Finding and guarding truth should be the lifestyle of every Christ follower. Especially in these times where mainstream media outlets want to convince us that our own eyes lie to us. Ignore the burning cities and businesses you see on your screen. Ignore reports of innocent people being murdered they tell us. What you see is a peaceful protest. Meanwhile police are restricted from arresting thieves carrying away stolen merchandise from vandalized businesses and in other places told to arrest people for not wearing a mask and it is all for the greater good.
The problem is people are easy to manipulate through lying. Dishonest people with power, position and an agenda know that. They’ve learned if you tell a lie enough times people will believe it. Powerful media outlets spin narratives by making up lies as they go along. Remember Nick Sandmann? News anchors from different channels parroted the same talking points sometimes word for word to condemn this innocent teen. Their lies were exposed later in court. Then there was the Russia hoax. The truth about that is coming out now. It is like these high paid media personalities goose step into the main office to get their talking points, not caring about truth or the people they will hurt through lying. Truth has fallen in our streets! Somebody needs to pick it up.
It’s amazing how our advanced nation is seemingly dumb as a post when it comes to understanding the destructive consequences of accepting marketed lies. Otherwise, wouldn’t there be a greater outcry against it? And because there isn’t, this ‘marketing of lies format’ will bring the population of the world under the power of the most divisive and destructive man the world’s ever known. The Bible calls him the Lawless one who “… is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders.” (2 Thessalonians 2:9) Antichrist’s whole system will be built on lies.
The Apostle Paul advises us to study and do our own diligent research. (See 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) He also warns that those who refuse to receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved will be given over to strong delusion, that they should believe the lie. (See 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11) Consider yourself warned. Truth is ours to have. Defending it is our cross to bear and if you know the truth, the truth shall make ‘you’ free, even if the world around you isn’t.
