The Power of Prayer
By Jana Cox
As I think about the events that have recently happened in Turkey and Syria my heart breaks for the people that are being affected by this tragic event. The devastation and suffering are difficult to understand. Children and families are separated, homes are gone, and many have died. The question that comes to my mind is what can I do to help? I live so far from these people and yet in my heart, I want to do something to help them. I know there has to be something that I can do to make a difference for these people. Yes, I can send money to help with the situation but there has to be more. Yes, there is more that can be done and I believe that this is where the power of prayer comes in. Prayer has the ability to make a difference for those that are in these horrific situations.
Psalm 18:6 “In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.”
Even in the most difficult of times, we have a place to go. We have “One” that will hear our cries and respond to us. I believe prayer is the position we need to take at this time. Yes, there is something we can do. We can pray for those with broken hearts and whose grief seems unrepairable. Our prayers can bring these people new strength and hope in their lives. The power of prayer can and will make a difference to them. So, with this being said, I ask you to take some time and pray for these people whose lives have been changed suddenly, and without warning. It will make a difference.
