Have you ever closed your Bible and thought, “What did I just read?” Maybe you’ve tried to read through the Bible but quit when it felt confusing or impersonal?
The Bible Recap (TBR) follows a chronological Bible reading plan and is a short daily recap by creator and host, Tara-Leigh Cobble. She’ll highlight and summarize that day’s Bible reading in a casual, easy to understand way.
Consider your Bible reading time as an investment in your relationship with God, you are spending time learning about Him, not seeking self help.
As you read through each passage daily, read it as a story about God, not inserting yourself. Fix your eyes on Him. Notice who wrote the book you are reading. Who did they write it to? When did they write it? What is the style of the particular book, is it law, history, poetry, or prophecy?
Context is key, “get the inside scoop”. Look for themes. Let scripture interpret scripture especially with unclear passages. (Don’t scream where scripture whispers or whisper where scripture screams.) Notice if the passages are descriptive or prescriptive, does it tell us what’s happening or what we should do?
Read it as it is intended to be read.
Here are a few questions you can ask yourself as you read:
What did God say in this passage?
What did God do in this passage?
What did I learn about what God loves in this passage?
What did I learn about what God hates in this passage?
What did I learn about Who God is in this passage? (If you can’t find Him, keep looking.)
What is happening that can be attributed to God?
We are looking forward to reading through the Bible with you this year and growth in our relationships with God.
