All things are possible with God
By Doug Cox
In the last part of John chapter four we find Jesus returning to Cana of Galilee where He had miraculously turned water into wine at a wedding. John says a “certain nobleman” whose son was lying sick in Capernaum heard that Jesus was in the area so he went and asked Jesus to go with him to heal his son because he was at the point of death. Instead of going with him Jesus instead told him to “….go your way your son lives.” The verse continues saying, “…so the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went his way.” (John 4:50) On the way home the nobleman met some of his servants who were coming to find him. They told him “your son lives” and gave him the time the miracle happened. It was at the very hour that Jesus spoke out His words of healing.
Isn’t it amazing that all Jesus had to do was to speak and the situation changed. Capernaum is something like 15 miles from Cana. This tells us that time and space cannot hinder the power of God’s word. As humans this is a hard concept to understand, but our limited understanding doesn’t make it any less true. There are no limits to the power of God’s Word. The question is will we believe it? Hebrews 4:2 says “for indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.”
Prayer – Heavenly Father help us not be limited by our logical minds. Help us believe that all things are possible with You. (Luke 1:37)
