The real slap down is not about Will and Chris
by Pastor Doug Cox
Jesus’s disciples asked Him a question about end times signs and He told them about false Christs and that deception would abound and that “…when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.” Luke 21: 9
What does it mean when a man punches another man in the face on national television? Back in the 8th grade I knew why I punched a kid named Scott in the face. He made me mad and I thought he needed to be put in his place. Then, after thirty seconds had passed and I was laying on the sidewalk with what I thought was a broken jaw. I knew I made a mistake. I had humiliated myself and empowered him even more.
What was the real reason Will Smith punched Chris Rock in the face at the Oscars? Only Will really knows, but I know he didn’t get to where he is at today by losing his temper. It seems words could have been more effective than fists to cause awareness to Jada’s alopecia, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. Maybe it wasn’t about Jada as much as it was about a new movie Will is making. Who knows?
Turning the Oscar’s into a punching match could just be an intentional way to turn the public’s conversation and eyeballs away from other more serious punches being thrown around the world. Mainstream media’s darling president Biden just threw a serious jab at Russia’s president Putin from Poland recently. He said to the world that Russia’s president Putin needs to be removed from power. His closing remarks were, “For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.”
Woah, that’s scary if you know what I mean. Let’s hope the Russians have better heads in leadership than we have in ours. What I mean by that is there was a story that may have been covered up by the Oscar’s man slap. PBS had an interview with the Russian spokesman, Dimitry Pescov. In that interview it came out that Dimitry Medvedev has stated that Russia reserves the right to use nuclear weapons if it faces an ‘existential threat’ even if the other side has not employed nuclear weapons.
Could Biden’s words to the world, saying Putin cannot remain in power be interpreted as an existential threat to the Russians? Let’s certainly pray not. Of course, here in the good ole USA everything is an existential threat. You know what I mean, there’s the climate, Trump, Trump supporters, Christian churches, the Bible, people born white and the list goes on. Basically, everything the left doesn’t like becomes and existential threat in Modern America. But when the leader of the free world publicly calls for the leader of a nation to be ousted, hmmm, that really sounds like an existential threat to me. So, like I said I hope Russia has better minds leading them than we have right now.
Today is a good time for all of us to look higher than men slapping men and national leaders slapping at each other. That is going to happen, and wars are going to happen because of it. Something to think seriously about is that Bible prophecy does talk about Russia being a big player in last days events. Check out Ezekiel 38 and 39. The United States if mentioned at all in the Bible is not much of a player.
I hear some say that the United States is the greatest nation on earth. And yes, we have done great things. But we are also great at things we shouldn’t want a reputation for, like aborting millions of unborn children, promoting racism, gender confusion, and a double standard justice system. We’re great at destroying small business and giving power to giant corporations. We’re great at letting college professors teach our kids that socialism is good. And give me a break, the next likely Supreme Court Justice can’t even define what a woman is? That’s not great, that’s disgusting.
Yes, slap downs happen. Men will slap down men, nations will slap down nations and sometimes war will be the result. Just remember this as we approach Passover/Easter season this year. Will may slap Chris, Joe may slap Vladimir, but Satan can’t slap Jesus and get away with it. Paul wrote, “…none of the rulers of this age knew, (that Jesus would rise from the dead) for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” 1 Corinthians 2:8 Satan’s slap down of Jesus is the reason Jesus’s hand is out to us.
