Truth or Counterfeit
What is truth? This question was asked in a documentary called “What Is A Woman?” by Matt Walsh from the Daily Wire. Some of the responses were surprising, he was treated hostile for simply asking the question, being told the interview would be over if he pressed using the word truth. In today’s society truth seems to be slipping further and further from the grasp of mainstream reality at an alarming pace.
When people are trained to recognize counterfeit money they are not trained by looking at what is false. Instead they are trained to know the aspects of what authentic money is and that is how they are able to identify false bills or coins. They learn the attributes of texture, markings, colors, microprinting and so on.
If a business owner or bank is able to quickly detect counterfeit currency they will be able to protect themselves from financial loss. In a spiritual sense we are to know the truths that are in the Word of God so that when the counterfeit comes our way we will be able to recognize it and protect ourselves and family spiritually.
Most likely you have heard people say “truth is relative”, “your truth”, “my truth” but what about “absolute truth”? Is there such a thing anymore? This Sunday Pastor Doug said, “the world needs the Church to be strong in the Word of God”. John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. The following are some verses about truth from the Word of God.
Proverbs 12:17 “He who speaks truth declares righteousness, But a false witness, deceit.”
Proverbs 8:7 “For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.”
Proverbs 23:23 “Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding.”
John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:17 “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
Romans 1:18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,”
Romans 1:21, 24-25 “because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. … 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”
Regardless of popular opinion in culture, truth is available to us through study of the Word of God. In John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. I encourage you to guard your heart and not exchange the truth of God for a lie. Jesus is the ultimate truth giver and He is trustworthy.
Praying the truth of God’s Word is alive in your heart and life!
