“Your Kingdom Come” Challenge
by Rebekah Harvey
In our Simple Truths Bible study we have been looking at Matthew 6:9-13 when Jesus was teaching His disciples to pray. This week we talked about, “Your kingdom come”. This is a reference to God’s spiritual reign and rule in our lives. We can ask the Father to help us in our lives, to help us be obedient and faithful, to have His reign in our lives. Reign isn’t a word we use very much to describe God working in our lives. But that is what it means to rule or have authority.
It can be challenging for us to allow God to rule in our lives. Being submitted to another person in a healthy relationship or in a job can almost seem demeaning at times with a Western mindset. One reason may be that we don’t understand that when we are in submission to God and His authority, it is not only for our spiritual benefit but will benefit us relationally and in many other ways as well.
I encourage you to pray and ask the Lord to help you submit yourself to His rule and authority in your life daily. When we submit our will to Him it is a locator of where our heart is. Even if you are struggling with this, I challenge you to thank the Lord for that because He is showing you where you need Him to be allowed to work in your life.
Matthew 6:9 “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”
