John 14:1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” According to the Merriam Webster dictionary the word trust means, reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something; one in which confidence is placed. In this verse, Jesus instructed us to trust in Him, we can rely on His character, ability, strength and truth with full confidence.
There are many things that try to come to us and make our heart troubled, that try to upset us and put doubt and fear in our lives. This is an attempt of the enemy to distract us from trusting in the Lord. If you watch the news or look at headlines they can be very troubling, but we cannot let our focus remain there.
The book of Philippians tells us in chapter 4 verse 6 and 7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. “ When we feel trouble coming to us through our thoughts, situations or circumstances we need to put our trust in Jesus and pray about the situations we are dealing with. Whatever is going on is not a surprise to the Lord Jesus, He knows what we are dealing with and wants to help with it.
Peace is a product of prayer, so if life seems to be troubling you, I encourage you to take your troubles and concerns to the Lord in prayer. He wants to work on your behalf but He needs an avenue to be opened by you. Don’t allow worry to weaken your faith.
Isaiah 26:3-4 “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! 4 Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.”
